Diabetes diseases is a slow poison. It will affect the nervous system and blood vessels of a diseased person gradually. If the person is affected by diabetes over ten or more years he should take care of every part of the body mainly legs. Uncontrolled or prolonged diabetes feels insensibility in legs.
There are two types of Diabetic Foot
1. Diabetic Foot Ulcers
Diabetic foot ulcer is a major problem of diabetes mellitus, and probably the major component of the diabetic foot. Wound healing is an inborn mechanism but for diabetes, repair of extracellular matrix takes most of the time to heal the wound.In result symptoms like Redness, increased warmth, swelling around the wound, Extra drainage, Pus, Odor, Fever or chills, Increased pain and eventually become the doorway to several infections and bacteria.
Treatment: Diabetic Foot appropriate footwear daily dressings to provide a moist the wound environment, debridement (the removal of damaged tissue or foreign objects from a wound) when necessary, antibiotic treatment should be given to avoid infections.
2. Diabetic Foot Gangrene
Gangrene is insufficient blood supply. This possibly life-threatening condition that may occur after an injury or infection, or in people suffering from any chronic health problem affecting blood circulation. The major reason of gangrene is low blood supply to the affected tissues, which results in cell death. Diabetes and long-term smoking increase the risk of suffering from gangrene. There is dry, wet and gas gangrene. Gangrene may include signs of infection, severe pain with swelling, a reddish skin color, coolness on the skin surface, ulceration, and a crackly sensation when the skin is pressed.
Treatment: Regular treatment for Diabetic Foot is required like debridement, dressing, Antibiotics to prevent infections. In some cases, amputation is required for particular toe or affected limb.
